The End of America
Jersey City, NJ
At the Folk Alliance conference last year I heard quite a buzz about this group of fellows. This is no easy feat considering this is a conference of 600 other musicians nearly all of which excel as performers themselves. Hearing End of America in a small room drove home the power of their simply gorgeous three-part harmonies, the likes of which I have not heard since Crosby, Stills and Nash.
The irony of their name is not lost on many of us considering the hurtful process of the recent presidential election and ensuing controversy. But, it appears they have used this name for some time. All frontmen of previous bands, Brendon Thomas, James Downes and Trevor Leonard met on tour in 2005, whereupon they went on to form a trio that highlights their vocal chemistry and captures the raw honesty of their performances.
End of America has performed at SXSW, Savannah Stopover and the Baltimore Folk Fest. They have shared the stage with Larry Campbell, David Bromberg, Gary Louris (The Jayhawks), Simone Felice (The Felice Brothers) and joined Beck in Los Angeles to perform for his Song Reader sheet music release show.
